In order to be able weld the joints of the plates of ferrules 1 and 2 which make up the Salts Tanks, the sheet needed to be pre-heated to 150ºC.

The diameter of the tanks is 50,400 mm.

12 heat treatment machines were used for heating.

The works were carried out in the Atacama desert in the north of Chile.
