16 Jul: Shotcreting in Arabian Cement Company. Arabia.

Alfran Saudi Arabia has been awarded a contract with the cement company or Arabia, Rabigh-KSA, for the installation of refractory lining in the precalciner of line 6.

The total area covered was 200 m2. The total duration of the work was 13 days, starting on April 11 and ending on the 22nd of the same month. The scope of these included demolition, anchoring and installation of dense concrete by shotcreting.

A large part of the mechanical work was carried out during the same period. It included the manufacture and installation of almost 150 m2 of sheets, which were completely damaged, in the conical section of the precalciner. Likewise, substitution by burner lances was carried out. The mechanical work was carried out by Arabian Cement.
ASA installed a total of 60 Tm of Alfranjet 45 SIC and 15 TM of Alfranlite 10-14 Li.
The works were in charge of the Operations Manager of ASA. They were carried out with a total of 28 workers, 24 locals and 4 technicians, who were from Alfran Spain.

Arabian Cement was very satisfied with the work developed by Alfran.

21 Jun: Security Management in the Repsol Industrial Complex in A Coruña

Industrial Services EMEA is currently in the Industrial Complex of Repsol in A Coruña executing the project of Fireproofing of Structures and Equipment Conversion Area, Tanks and Maritime Terminal.

In addition to the quality of the work that is being carried out, work and performance in the area of occupational risk prevention must be added. The attitude and commitment to safety on the part of all workers within the project, including that of the managers, is reflected in the accident rates. In this way, there has been no record of any work accident loss. This work is being recognized and valued by Repsol. And this is evident in the Act of the Coordination Meeting of April 17. In it, Alfran is congratulated for the action taken in terms of notification and presentation of corrective actions.

 

In addition, on April 24, Alfran presented its Security Management Program 2018 at the request of Repsol within the Petrochemical IC of A Coruña. The order of the presentation was as follows:

– General Presentation of the Company. Business Areas, Billing Volume, Organization Chart, Locations, Clients, Significant References and other relevant data.

– Management of the Security in the Company. Organization chart Security, Accident data and Main activities.

– Specific Security Plan for the activities in the Complex.

– Differential aspects in the management of security within the company.

– Questions and clarifications

The meeting was developed in a participatory manner and followed with special attention by the Repsol managers. The preventive culture of involvement and commitment, at all hierarchical levels within the organizational structure of the company in terms of prevention, was credited as a value through the implementation of Management Systems in matters of Safety, Quality, Environment and Corporate Social Responsibility within the Grupo Aldomer.

The meeting ended with the gratitude, acknowledgment and congratulations from Repsol managers and security officers for the management of prevention in contracts already executed and in execution. Likewise, they encouraged us to continue in this line. For our part, a great satisfaction for this recognition. We hope that it will contribute value and weight in the adjudication of future projects.

The involvement and commitment of those responsible and intermediate managers with the prevention of risks is key to ensure that all employees acquire these habits of safety and health, perfectly compatible with the development of the activity.

This material is chosen due to its chemical compatibility with the process. In addition, its high predisposition to hydration has not made it possible to use it in concretes until now.

In this way, the solution to extend the life of the basic bricks in the coating area is the rebuilt of the basic bricks by means of the projection with ALFRAN MAG 85 HG, a high performance concrete based on magnesia-spinel.

13 Apr: Supply and Installation of Thermal Insulation in Abkatun A-II

Industrial Services in Alfran Mexico has been awarded the contract for the supply and assembly of thermal insulation in the Offshore Abkatun A-II platform. This platform is being built by Mcdermott International, a US multinational specialized in this type of project. The works are being carried out in his patio located in Altamira, Tamaulipas state (Gulf of Mexico area).

Regarding Abkabun A-II, it is expected to have a daily production of 200.00 barrels. It will be located in the Abkatún-Pol-Chuc field, operated by Pemex, in the Campeche basin, between the states of Campeche and Tabasco, and about 132km northeast of the port of Dos Bocas.

The technical office of Mexico has been responsible for making the winning bid. In this proposal, we counted on the collaboration from the technical office in Alfran Spain.

To make this ambitious project a success, an execution plan has been made between the sales, technical office and operations areas.

During the past month of January we made the first intervention of refractory of the refractory brick in the zone of base alumina of the tube of a Cement Kiln, between the meters 63 and 65.

By request of the client, it was necessary to get this brick to endure until the end of the campaign. Although it had an average thickness above the residual, it did not have enough to withstand another full campaign.

Brick restoration intervention

For this, we installed using the High-Gun system, 5.5 tons of our material Drytech Clean 40 High Gun. In this way, an average of 90 mm was increased over the entire diameter of the furnace.

It was first cleaned dry and with a wire brush. Subsequently, without the need for any anchoring, the concrete was projected in a very short space of time.

Intec-Heat is collaborating in the construction of the 42 Jackets of East Anglia One, one of the largest offshore wind farms in the world. The scope of the contract, in addition to the 42 jackets, includes the construction of 126 piles. Although part of the works were carried out during 2017, most of them will be carried out during 2018. Most of the construction of the Jackets will be carried out at the Navantia facilities in Fene, Coruña. Regarding the piles, they will be built by Windar, in its facilities in Avilés.

29 Jan: New contract with Arcelor Mittal in Asturias (Spain)

Alfran has been awarded the construction contract for converters (BOF) in the steel mills of Avilés (LDA) and Gijón (LDG) that the Arcelor Mittal group owns in Asturias (Spain).

It is a strategic contract in which it has been necessary an excellent work of several departments. This is how we manage to make a competitive offer technically and economically. A 5-year contract, which reinforces our position as a reference supplier for Arcelor Mittal.

A teamwork for the construction, monitoring and control of converters

To carry out this demanding project, an action plan has been agreed that involves the sales, technical and operations departments.
